About a month ago, an old acquaintance of mine reached out to me and asked if I’d like to review a new activewear from a company he’s working with. According to its website, FITGEAR is founded by a group of fashion designers with a simple idea: “why shall we pay so much for premium quality.” They believe that customers deserve to get cheap activewear without compromising quality, and by cutting middleman and run fully online, they are able to achieve that.
He thought that I’d be a good fit for the brand since I’m all into the active and fitness life. After going through the website and understanding their vision, I was like, hell yeah I’m getting one of that!
Website / User Experience – ★★★★★
Simple home page, easy-to-navigate products page, straight-to-the-point checkout page. As they currently only cater a few products, I was able to look for the product I want very easily. A size chart based on height and weight is given for reference, and I was able to add my Wind T-shirt to the cart without any problem.
Checkout / Payment Method – N/A
You can easily make a payment with credit card via Paypal; Malaysians can also opt for online banking via Billplz. As I was given a voucher code for my product to do this review, I didn’t have to go through an actual payment. However, I went through their Facebook reviews and didn’t see any complains about the payment method.
It is stated on FITGEAR’s website that worldwide delivery is within 2-3 weeks time, and I received my package a few days after 2 weeks. I actually did not hear from the company after receiving my order confirmation, and didn’t get a reply from customer service when I enquired about it (see next section for more details). I only received my tracking code from its automated system 2 days after I received my product.
I had similar experience when shopping at Lazada so I’m guessing that it is a common logistical issue.
Customer Service ★★★☆☆
FITGEAR has a seamless sync with Facebook messenger for its customer service. When you’re checking out from the shop, you have the option to send notifications to your Facebook Messenger. Order confirmation, tracking code, and new product announcements are all automatically sent to me via Messenger, which is super convenient.
However, when I reached out about my tracking code 2 weeks after I placed my order (as mentioned above, I didn’t receive anything until AFTER I received my product), my message was not responded immediately. The POC replied one week late with a very honest and personal message “Omg!!! Just scroll till bottom while cleaning msg and found out that I missed your msg! I’m so sorry” and proceeded to assist me.
Also, please tell me I’m not the only one who cringes when customer service rep calls me “my dear.” Like, I guess you’re being friendly by aiyo I don’t really know you leh! 😖
Product Quality ★★★★★
I LOVE IT. The Wind T-shirt that I bought was exactly like what they promised on the website. Here’s a video of me reviewing the Wind T-shirt when I went cycling with my girl friends who came back from Canada last week. Honestly, I was quite skeptical when I first heard about the product but I guess I was wrong!
If you’re not in a hurry, definitely give FITGEAR a go and buy your new cheap activewear! Based on my personal experience and looking at the Facebook reviews, I believe that the only weakness for now is the shipment and slightly slow customer service. Being in an E-Commerce startup myself before, I understand that it’s all work-in-progress and I can see their effort in fixing it. I was told that they will be launching a new series of products including bags and leggings somewhere around mid of August. So be sure to check them out!
