My energy level had been pretty low for a few weeks due to physical health and random life problems that I got thrown at. I was constantly fatigue and not motivated to do much. When you are trying to get into shape or maintain your current fitness level, one of the hardest things is keeping up your motivation levels. A lot of people tend to go through times when they are highly motivated, then their enthusiasm starts to fade, only to be reignited a few months later. Get a Workout Buddy
If you are trying to exercise all by yourself, there is no one else to hold you accountable. If you get a workout buddy, you have someone who can drag you out of the house on days when you simply don’t feel like exercising. I can’t recall the number of times I woke up and felt so lazy to workout, but thought of Kevin who’s been working out everyday himself. I forced myself anyway!
Not only this, a workout buddy is someone who you can have a healthy rivalry with. Try to choose an exercising partner who has similar level of fitness to yourself so that you develop a good partnership. You can attend exercise classes together and not turn up on your own only to be surrounded by people who know exactly what they are doing. Set Yourself Some Achievable Goals
A lot of people tend to work best when they have clear goals which they work towards achieving. It could be that you want to lift a certain amount of weight or run a distance. The important thing is that the goals which you set for yourself are both achievable and measurable. There is no greater feeling than achieving a target which you set for yourself. But make sure that you set yourself a new one soon afterward to maintain that motivation!
Schedule Workout Times
Everyone has busy schedules, but if you don’t set aside some time for working out, it is highly likely that this is one of the things which will get shifted in favour of something else. Always remember, there is nothing more important than maintaining your fitness levels and this is one of the keys to a long and happy life.
Vary Up Your Workout Regimes
Of course, everyone is going to get bored if they keep doing the same workouts day after day. Variety is the spice of life after all. So, rather than just going to the gym all the time, take up a new sport, join a new exercise, hike on a trail which you have never taken before. You may well discover a new passion which you never knew you had before!
