It was Thanksgiving in Canada last weekend. Instead of studying for my midterm and working on my assignments, I spent almost every day meeting up with friends and having a great time with them. I chilled out with my roommates on Friday night, drinking and watching The Mindy Project; raved to Matoma & Project 46 & Audien & Alesso with a bunch of awesome human beings on Saturday; had dim sum for breakfast and thanksgiving potluck with more awesome human beings on Sunday; had some good tea then good coffee with my special ones on Monday noon, then back for a productive work session in the library in the evening – it was not exactly a Thanksgiving-y weekend, but I sure had a great long weekend.
Although Thanksgiving is not a holiday in Malaysia and I didn’t grow up celebrating it, I still miss my family a little bit more than usual on this day. Living abroad has taught me to appreciate my family and the time I get to spend with them. I am very thankful for them, and for the fact that I live in an era where technology allows me to communicate with them so easily. It is nice to stay updated with everything that is going on, whether it’s the good or the bad, I feel like I’m with them in spirit.
I am also very thankful for the people that I met in my life. Friends, new or old, are the ones who offered me support when I needed them. I wouldn’t be who I am or where I am today if it’s not for all these people that I met. I feel loved, and I am thankful for that. Here’s a song cover that I made during the weekend. I dedicate it especially to my roommate Saras who requested for it, but also to all of you. It’s not exactly top notch (took me a while to complete the recording as I kept screwing up the lyrics and chords, hence the sigh at the start and end of the video), but I like how it turned out. I hope you like it too!
You can download the cover here if you’re interested. Alright, it’s time for me to get back on the study grind and be productive.Stay healthy and happy folks! 🙂
